1897 was a momentous year

Crowds flocked to Queen Victoria's Diamond Jubilee, while on the banks of the River Spey the era's most remarkable distillery was born.

TAMDHU WAS DESIGNED WITH A SINGLE PURPOSE:

harness every innovation, to create the finest Scotch whisky in the world.

Tamdhu is always matured in the finest sherry casks

The older they get, the better they have to be: the rarest might hold our spirit for 25 years. But a cask that can hold a spirit for 50? Almost impossibly scarce. Almost.

Tamdhu 50 is awash with complexity

Wave upon wave rolls across the nose and palate, then develops still further through the tireless finish. With each sensation, the uncharted depths of half a century.

Tasting Notes

The Colour

DEEP HUES OF RICH MAHOGANY

The result of half a century in exceptional casks.

The Nose

FOREST FRUITS,ELEGANT OAK & ORANGE DEPTHS

on the nose - with underlying rosehip, dark chocolate & marzipan

The Palate

Cloves, Liquorice, Espresso & Baked Apples

the uniquely complex palate also reveals banana, black pepper & roasted almonds

The Finish

GINGER, COCOA, WALNUTS & MAPLE SYRUP

Linger long through the finish

True Craftsmanship is rare

To honour the bottling of such a rare whisky, we found exceptionally skilled people: glass designer Katy Holford, the artisans at Royal Brierley, and the silversmiths at Hamilton & Inches. Each upholds a centuries-old tradition.

KATY HOLFORD'S DESIGNS IN CRYSTAL AND GLASS ARE DECEPTIVELY SIMPLE

For the Tamdhu 50 Year Old she used the richness of English crystal to fashion a decanter as rare and exquisite as the whisky it holds.

ROYAL BRIERLEY IS THE PRE-EMINENT MAKER OF ENGLISH CRYSTAL

Founded in 1776, the company holds two Royal Warrants. Who better to craft the crystal decanter for our 50 year old whisky?

PERFECTED BY AT LEAST FOUR HAMILTON AND INCHES CRAFTSMEN AND WOMEN.

It takes great skill to create just one sterling silver collar for the Tamdhu 50 Year Old decanter. The price of excellence? Decade-upon-decade of training, mastering timeless crafts. Their reward? A coveted Royal Warrant.
